Each month, Blue Apron works with world-class vineyards and esteemed winemakers to select six new wines which are shipped right to your door along with tasting notes, pairing tips, and the story behind each wine.
One thing I especially loved? Each bottle is about 2/3 the size of a regular wine bottle, so you have just the right amount of wine for two people to pair with dinner. This was awesome because I always just want a little wine and with normal-sized wine bottles we usually end up having an awkward amount left over.
You don’t have to be a weekly member of Blue Apron to get the wine deliveries, by the way! Their reds and whites will certainly complement their recipes, but you can also savor them with your own homemade creations. 🙂

As you guys know, Blue Apron allows you to create delicious, chef-designed meals at home, delivering all the fresh ingredients you need in exactly the right proportions for the recipes. No grocery store and no waste from unused ingredients – win! We subscribe to their weekly 2 person plan (3 meals, 2 servings each) and pay for it on our own outside of these review posts – we love it.
When our wine delivery arrived, we saw that the Blue Apron recipe we were planning to make that night, BBQ-Spiced Salmon with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Arugula (<—recipe), was listed as a meal that paired well with their Rancho Petaluma Zinfadel from Windsor Oaks Vineyard. Don’t mind if we do!
Yum – it did indeed pair nicely with our meal (which was also delicious, btw)!
The second wine we tried, a Pinot Gris from Scharf Farms Vineyard, was noted as pairing well with Nepalese Chicken Tarkari with Garlic-Spinach Rice and Spiced Tomato Sauce (<—recipe). Sounded good to me!
We absolutely LOVED that meal – so delicious and unique – and the wine paired perfectly with it, cutting the spice and refreshing the palate. Thumbs up!
We can’t wait to make our way through the rest of the wines with future Blue Apron meals!
