Good morning, friends! Boy, was I sore yesterday after Sunday’s Tobacco Road Half Marathon! I’m still pretty sore today! Normal walking is okay, but going down stairs? Yikes. Scary sight:   I definitely utilized the hobby/sideways shuffle down the stairs approach. 🙂 Thankfully, though, I’m just super sore — nothing hurts or feels injured at all! I think all those lateral leg/hip strengthening moves I’ve been doing really paid off. I had a busy day at school yesterday and stuck around after class until about 4ish so I could get some work done with less distractions. I should probably do that more often — I was a lot more productive not being at home, and I got a ton of work done, which was great because I had plans for a fun dinner with my high school friend Hilary. 🙂   Hilary and I hit up one of our favorites in the area — Akai Hana in Carrboro. I always come to this place when the weather is nice because they have a really nice, big outdoor patio! I’ve come here a lot lately since it’s been so warm, and last night was no exception —gorgeous evening for it.   We both started with a glass of wine. Chardonnay? Don’t mind if I do!   We also shared some edamame to start while chatting away.   For our main course, we did our usual — picked out 4 sushi rolls to share!   We had an eel/avocado roll, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, and another more complicated one I can’t remember. 🙂 They were all amazing — this was probably my favorite combination of the sushi we’ve had at this place!   Yum. I also love that this place isn’t pricey — for two glasses of wine each, one order of edamame, and 4 sushi rolls, we both only paid like $25 — win! Thanks for the fun night, Hilary! 🙂 — Early this morning I decided to take a nice shake-out walk around the neighborhood while studying some notes for our comprehensive exams. A few classmates and I are starting review sessions twice per week, starting today — gotta prepare!   I enjoyed a nice 40 minute walk around some of the trails near our house. I’m going to miss these when we move!   Time to pack lunch, pack yoga clothes (I’m hitting up a low-key class this evening), and head off to school! Have a great day, friends!

Ahhh that sushi looks so good! I haven't had sushi in ages and now I'm dying for some! Good luck getting studying started and good job on being dedicated with those review sessions! So close!

Ah, the sideways stair shuffle -- I feel your pain! I used the same technique last week when I overdid it on some squats :)

Haha after my first half marathon I was doing that sideways shuffle down the stairs for almost a week... It's brutal! And don't you feel ridiculous if someone catches you??!! Hope you feel better soon! :)

I remember being so sore after running the Va Beach Rock and Roll. I think it is def worth the sore muscles to feel such an accomplishment. Oh and that sushi looks fantastic! YUM!

Meals with friends are necessary! I could not survive without them. When I'm feeling really sore, I do a gentle yoga sequence that really helps me feel flexible and less achy! I usually cut off the lights, light some candles, and have some relaxation time on the mat. So enjoy your class tonight you will be back to 100% in no time!

Oh boy, I feel for you, Anne. I have had so many falls that stairs really scare me now that I'm older and the sideways shuffle down the stairs is now my normal way to go.

I love Akai Hana! Their sushi is so good and so affordable! And congrats on the 1/2 marathon PR. Definitely worth not being able to walk the next day right?

Ha I know - you don't realize how much your leg muscles are involved with sitting on a toilet!
