How to Make a Chicken Shawarma Pita Pitza
~ Step 1 ~
Toast a whole wheat pita.
~ Step 2 ~
Spread toasted pita with hummus, either store bought or homemade.
I actually made my own homemade hummus for the first time for this pitza! I used this recipe and it came out great. Yay 🙂
~ Step 3 ~
Top hummus with sliced fresh tomato.
~ Step 4 ~
Add a few pieces of the chicken shawarma!
To make the chicken shawarma, I took boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut them into bite sized-ish pieces, and marinated them for about 20 minutes in the first 6 ingredients from this recipe. Then I simply sauteed it all in a pan until the chicken was cooked through.~ Step 5 ~
Drizzle the cucumber yogurt garlic sauce on top!
Yum. I originally created the yogurt sauce recipe to go with my Secret Ingredient Falafel, and I’d forgotten how good it is! 🙂~ Step 6 ~
Top it all off with a bit of chopped fresh parsley:
