Yes, we’re weird.
Turner, Kris, and I headed over to the Tobacco Trail in Durham for a late morning run. Kris set off on her own (she prefers running by herself and wanted to go with a slower pace), and Turner and I started out at what felt like a good clip. The first mile flew by; it felt like we were running fast but not crazy fast, and we were too busy chatting away to check our watches. When my watch beeped Mile 1 I looked down and was very surprised to see our pace as 7:56! Turner is a fast runner and I was feeling good, so we decided to see if we could do our entire planned 5 miles at a sub-8 minute mile pace. And what do you know? We did it. 🙂 I felt great except for the last mile, which was hard. I was huffing and puffing, but determined to stay below an 8 minute mile. Success!
Splits:

What an awesome run! A great reminder to push myself — you never know what these legs can do. Total distance: 5 miles. Total time: 39:28. Average overall pace: 7:53!
Maybe I’ve got a sub 1 hour 50 minute half marathon in me just yet! We’ll see. After our respective runs, the girls and I headed straight over to Guglhupf Bakery in Durham for brunch!
